A. Purpose of Activity

Holt Foundation, Inc.

 

Mission Statement:

The Holt Foundation is a non-profit, charitable and tax exempt organization under IRS Section 501c3. In furtherance of its mission, The Holt Foundation provides education, cultural, and social opportunities that are designed to enhance the growth and development of individuals and entities. The specific focus of the Foundation is in providing experiences in matters related to the field of law.

 

Vision:

Holt Foundation's vision is to give back to the community through its mission by providing post secondary educational opportunities.

 

  1. We will solicit generous contributions from individuals, corporations, and organizations

  2. We will assist with providing financial assistance to 10 low-income student per year of $1,000 from an East Baton Rouge Parish High School who have been accepted and registered in a college with tuition, fees, room and board

  3. We will accept 200 applications and date stamp each application

 

 

 

B. How will the Holt Foundation accomplish our goals?

  1. We will solicit generous contributions from individuals, corporations, and organizations

  2. The Holt Foundation will send out scholarship packets to all college chancellors in the State of Louisiana asking them to in turn disseminate the information to their respective college representatives

  3. The Holt Foundation will develop its own marketing plan to heighten public awareness of its mission / purpose

  4. The Holt Foundation through it's reviewing committee will screen the applications and select 10 applicants that meet the funding criteria

  5. The Holt Foundation will award the winning candidate their scholarship at an annual scholarship banquet

  6. The student will receive a check payable on behalf of the student for tuition, fees, room and board

 

C. Holt Foundation Scholarship Criteria

The following must be documented and/or submitted by the applicant:

  1. Demonstration of potential for success in pursuing a career in law (extra-curricular activities, community service, internships, research activities, statement from employer, etc.)

  2. Sophomore (rising Junior) classification

  3. Cumulative grade point average of 3.5

  4. One letter of recommendation from either of the following:

    • Department chairman

    • Professor in major

    • Academic advisor or counselor

  5. Resume' with career statement

  6. Certified transcript and ACT or SAT score

  7. Recent photograph
